The Luthiers for a Cause Backstory

LFAC 2017

Luthiers for a Cause launched in 2017 when six of the world’s most renowned ukulele builders came together to make a difference (and to kick up a bunch of dust!) In short, these six builders donated their time and talents to handcraft six one-of-a-kind ukuleles, each built out of wood from a legendary tree, in order to raise money and awareness for The Ukulele Kids Club. From the outset of this project we never could have imagined the success!

Luthiers for a Cause 2017 raised over $130,000 with all proceeds going to The UKC!

This translated into countless hospitalized children receiving the gift of music through music therapy and via the gift of their very own uke to take home. Now, that is making a difference! So many folks came together to make this happen – from sponsors to volunteers to friendly media helping us to share this story.

  • A special shout-out goes to Eddie Monnier. LFAC came to life because of his vision and dedication!

The 2017 Sponsors: Oahu Cases, Rodgers Tuning Machines, Harvey Leach Inlay and Hawaii Music Supply
